How to use this file in QuickBooks Desktop
Work on a backup. Run File → Back Up Company first; imports are easiest to undo on a copy of the company file.
- In QuickBooks Desktop, go to File → Utilities → Import → Import IIF Files.
- Select the .iif file you downloaded from this tool and continue past the import warning.
- Open the bank register (Lists → Chart of Accounts → double-click the account) and verify the imported transactions.
- Check that each line hit the category account you intended, and recategorize in the register if it did not.
- Compare the register balance with your bank statement before you move on.
